Dr. Liebreich’s famous device has a Reute’s concave perforated mirror and a metal Coccius lens clip. The box includes five different lenses to correct the examiner’s refraction during direct ophthalmoscopic examination. In addition there are two large convex lenses for an indirect examination. These lenses are held close to the person being examined, while the device is held close to the examiner’s eye. The lid is marked in gold colored letters ‘Liebreich’s Ophthalmoscope’. The device comes in its original velvet and silk lined box.
