This is a rare antique,18th century, complete dental set for manual calculus debridement (descaling) made in France by Touron of Paris. The set consists of nine steel scaling tools with baluster stems and a common turned ivory handle with a gold colored collar decorated with embosed prince of wales feathers. The set comes in its original fitted case lined with light blue velvet. The interior of the case’s lid has a small mirror, which retains its original decorated frame in gold color. The original lable for Touron Paris is still on the base. Overall size of box is 7.5 X 5 cm. A similar set appears on page 30 of David J. Warren’s ‘Old Medical and Dental Instruments’, Shire Publications.
