This is a rare and unusual map-measure instrument patented in England by the Morris Patents Engineering works in Birmingham. It is a dialing instrument with a wheel which when pushed on a map or chart surface will indicate the exact distance between two points as long as the correct scale is placed on the dial. This Chartometer invented by E. R. Morris, with hinged front glass so that card dials can be interchanged for different scales. It comes with 3 different interchangeable scales for different map specifications and enclosed in its original box: 3.75' x 2.75'.
