Nickel plated bridge or notebook pencil holder and pencil. The holder is custom printed C. Blackman Est 50 Years Fish Poultry & Game Dealer. Nat. Tel. 771 35 Western Rd. Hove Corp Tel 656. The nickel is stamped DRGM which stands for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster. This is the patent mark used in Germany in the years 1891-1945. George Blackman was a fishmonger. Around 1854 George set up a Fishmonger's and Ice Merchant shop, in Western Road, Hove. His son Charles took over the shop around 1859. This dates our pencil to around 1904 -1909. Length when closed 9 cm.
