Mahagony and Brass Torpedo Level by Preston. This is a 9 Inch (22 cm) mahagony Spirit Level with tapered ends. It is a well-made mahagony plumb and level with brass top plates and ends. Made in England by Preston in Birmingham. Edward Preston started his company in 1825 in Birmingham, manufacturing, mainly wooden planes. In 1850 he was joined by his son Edward Jr. The second son, Henry joined soon after. By 1880 The company had been renamed Edward Preston and Sons and was located on Whitehall St. in Birmingham. The company ceased trading in 1932. |
