French Silversmith's Repousse Hammer and Leather Cushion. This vintage hand made hammer is signed by L. Hugeniot Tissot and was made in France. The sand filled leather cushion was hardly used. These tools were used for decorating metals in which part of the design is raised in relief from the back of the article by means of a hammer and punches on the soft cushion. Length of the hammer is 22 cm (8.6 inches) and the cushion measures 16 cm in diameter (6.3 inches). |
