Copper Pump Alcohol Flagon by S STERNAU & Co circa 1896. An American alcohol flagon made of copper with brass handle and spout used with chafing dishes to add alcohol to the burner. The pump is fully functional. The flagon has its original cap and small flower shaped stopper connected with a chain to the spout. The flagon is marked on the bottom S. Sternau & Co. Pat'd May 12-96. This flagon appears in the company's Chafing Dish Catalogue of 1897. This company was based in New York City at the turn of the century. It specialized in copper and silver plated items for meal service, particularly chaffing dishes. |
