A Rare Joseph Lucas Brass Circular Oil Can with Folding Spout. A 3 Inch brass oil can stamped: ‘J. Lucas & Son. Patent New Coventry Oiler TBLW Birmingham’, with a rare and unique patent of a spout that folds into a depression across the circular body. The spout, when folded, cuts off the oil supply. The Company of Sir Joseph Lucas Ltd. From Birmingham started in 1875 with production of ship and bicycle lamps and accessories. In the 1920s they started making batteries. Lucas made Morse keys and produced bicycles and oilers used in WW I. During the Second World War Lucas produced the No.4 Mk.III bayonet with scabbard. |
