19th Century French shot and powder measure. This is a brass adjustable volumetric gunpowder measure allowing the rifleman to measure the exact amount of black powder (Poudre) or lead (Plumb) with which to charge the rifle. Made in France by ‘St. Etienne d’Armes’ with graduated slide that pulls out of one end to measure powder from 40 to 60 gram and lead from 35 to 55 gram in discrete increments. Length 11 cm (4 ½ inch). |
