Surveyor Cross Head, English, Late 19th century. Black finish octagonal body with staff mount, veins and inset of a magnetic compass with silvered scale. The instrument is stamped 'STANLEY, GREAT TURNSTILE, HOLBORN, LONDON' and is contained in a fitted wooden case with Stanley label adhered to the interior. |
