Pocket Magnetic Compass. This is a dry compass made in England for the Spanish market with nickel-plated case and beveled glass cover, 4 cm (1 ½ inch) in diameter. This instrument consists of a magnetized steel needle and graduated dial card indicating both North and Magnetic North. The needle is mounted on a sharp pivot at the center of the case so as to permit the needle to rotate freely in the horizontal plane. A small lever raises the needle from the pivot and fixes its movement. |
