Sextant Made by T.L. Ainsley of South Shields, England. This 19th Century sextant includes a polished mahogany case which has an engraved presentation plate on the top. The instrument is a brass No. N21, 6¼ inch radius with a scale on inlaid silver, divided in 10 arc minutes to 160° and is usable through 150°. With the venire, the scale can read to 10 arc seconds. Included with the kit: An inverting telescope with power of 6, an erect telescope of 3 power for star sights, a sight tube with fitted eyeshade. The lid of the case carries a calibration certificate from Lilley & Reynolds Ltd. (London), dated from 1970, that indicates - 0' correction across 60° on the scale, and +20' correction across 120°. The shades, mirrors and telescopes are in good condition. |
