A rare 19th century set of drawing instruments made in England by J.A. Stanley & Co. This is a 2-layer drawing set in mahogany case with a presentation plate on the top engraved 'John Atkinson April 30th 1881.' The emblem of J.A. Stanley appears on the watered blue silk inside the lid. The polished mahogany case is 35 cm long and 15cm wide, The top layer is complete and contains 27 separate matching German Silver and steel items, including beam compass, dividers with interchangeable legs and extension, pencil and pen compasses, spring bow compasses, ivory handled pens, and adjusting tool. The second layer contains ivory rules, parallel rule and boxwood rules. This fine large set and its very attractive mahogany case are in very good overall condition |
