19th C. Wilkinson Pattern Folding Money Scale Balance by H. BELL, Lancashire. This is an English brass collapsible guinea scales, self-raising steelyard type, with two positions swing-over weight for the guinea and it’s half. The coin is placed on the folding H shaped hanger. When the hinged lid of the mahogany box is fully opened, the scales raise up so that they are ready to use. Made in England and signed by ‘H. Bell, Prescot Lancashire’ on a printed label in the box. The original trade label, in good condition, contains instruction of how to use the scales. The catch on the lid needs repair. Size: 139 X 24 X 14 mm. |
