A rare Indicator Postal Scale made by Parnell, London, 19th century. The scale has a hook for the load and an engraved brass plate suspended at an axis (fulcrum). A postal mail suspended from the hook rotates the plate and the vertical indicator points to the inscribed scale, showing the price (in Pence) to be paid for the load. |
