A Victorian Suspension Brass Apothecary Equal-Arm Scale Balance. The 14.5 cm (5 ¾ inch) beam, with swan neck terminals, and ornate indicator are made of brass together with brass panes. The scale comes with an integral hanging stand fixed to the lid of the original fitted oak box together with a complete set of 5 verified Pennyweights and a complete set of 7 Grain weights. Box Size: length 19.5 cm, width 7.5 and height 4 cm. There are 20 dwts (pennyweights, commonly called “weights”) to the ounce (oz.) and 24 grains to the pennyweight or 480 grains to the gold (troy) ounce. |
