Modern precision analytical scale. The pans are attached by stiff metallic rods and suspended from the beam by knife-edge supports. Used for scientific purposes.Made by Baird and Tatlock (London) Ltd. 14-15 Cross St. Hatten Garden London Ec1 England. The frame measures 34.5 cm high 36 cm wide and 24 cm in depth. It is made of solid brass, painted black, with special recesses for the glass plates. The door in front slides up and down supported by wheels. The main parts of the balance are all made of polished steel. There are three opaline gems supporting the hinges of the main beam and the two pans. There is also an external horizontal handle, which allows placing milligram weights on the beam itself without having to open the door. The entire scale weighs 10.5 kg. |
