English Mother-of-Pearl Spectacle Case. This ornate case was made in the second half of the 19th century from bone inlaid with two types of Mother of pearl and Abalone shell. The lid hinge and lock are made of German silver and the case interior is lined with red velvet. Included with the case is a pair of petit gold plated 19th century Victorian spectacles with oval frame and polished lenses. The shafts are elastic and come equipped with elastomeric temple tips that remain firmly in place and virtually eliminate slippage. |
