This is a surgeon's surgical scalpel knife with a steel blade made and signed by Ferris and Co. The handle shield is made of high quality tortoise shell. Ferris and Co. Bristol was established in 1770 by Dr. Tilladam. In 1830 they were appointed chemists to the king. The company ceased to exist in 1955. |
