Mid 19th Century Capital Bone Amputation Tenon Saw. This is a rather unique amputation saw dated around the 1860's. This tenon saw has an ebony pistol grip handle and a second turned ebony front grip handle. This handle was used for extra leverage. This unique feature is not describe in the many books and articles that we have read. This saw predated sterilization since the handle is wood, and therefore cannot be sterelized. Both handles are in good shape but there is some darkening and light corrosion to the blade. The blade is 20 cm (8 inches) long and the TPI is 8.
