Silver spice tower. An unusual silver spice tower, probably Austro-Hungarian, with a twisted fluted hollow body. The base is a flat circle decorated with leaf and flower wreaths. The spire is fretwork allowing for the scent of the spices. The spices are put into the hollow body by unscrewing the spire from the body. The spire supports a banner. This tower was originally a sugar castor 17 cm (6.7 inches) tall. The tower is fully Hallmarked. |
