Silver coin of the Jewish War. This is the half shekel silver coin struck in Jerusalem during the second year of the Jewish war against Rome (Year 67/68 CE). Obverse side: Chalice with pearled rim (7 dots). The base is raised by projections on ends. Above the chalice is the date Hebrew letters (?? - which is year two). Around the chalice is the inscription - half a shekel. Reverse side: Stem with pearled base and three pomegranates. Around is the Hebrew inscription - Jerusalem the Holy. Reference: Hendin 660. |
