A Wood Handled Mountaineering Axe With Metal Badges. An old mountaineering walking axe with 9 badges from the Dolomites in Italy. The axe has a wooden handle and steel pick, adze and spike. The pick has teeth for steeper ice. The original woven rope axe leash is attached to the shaft with a steel ring. The 9 metal badges depict different location in the Italian dolomites around the Trentino Alro Adige province: Carestiato 1343 meters (above sea level).
