A rare vine Brazilian cane from a period around 1750 with silver handle and in its original condition. The handle is of a Flattened Pommel type housing a heavy lead wadding within its cavity. On top of the pommel is an original brass coin, well embossed and inscribed '.AT. BRASILLAE. DOMINUS. ANNO. 1773. '. The 23X28 mm cylindrical collar is made of Silver and engraved with the artist initials: AR. The Shaft is made of a Vine branch naturally knotted with deep furrows of a climbing vine plant, possibly Wisteria. Overall length 82 cm. |
