Silvered dial and brass case attached to gimbals, winding key and gimbals' lock. 56 hour power reserve with winding indicator (up-down dial). The chronometer is enclosed in a cube shaped mahogany box (19 cm) with brass fittings. The makers, Dobbie McInnes Co. traces their roots back to the turn of the century when shipbuilding on the Clyde was thriving. They were appointed as ‘Instrument Makers and contractors to the British Admiralty’ producing accurate chronometers to calculate longitudes. Having offices in South Shield London, Glasgow & Liverpool. Provenance: From the private collection of Dr. A.N. Gilai
