These are late19th century implements. The eraser was used for scraping and removing ink or pencil lines without damaging the surface of the paper. It is made of steel with a short double bladed leaf-shaped knife and an ivory handle. It measures 13 cm (5.1 inches). The quill knife was used for cutting the edge of quills, in order to sharpen them for writing. The knife measures 13.5 cm (5.2 inches). The handle is yellow celluloid. Both instruments were made by J. Rogers & Sons of Sheffield England, appointed cutlers to His Majesty King George IV in 1821. The quill knife is also marked with ER, which dates it to King Edward VII (reigned 1901-1910).
