Surgical Archimedean Drill This a steel drill that was used in surgery to make deicate holes in bone. Reciprocating movement of the lower sliding grip, which spins the spiral worm of the shaft, operates the drill. The grip in this drill holds 3 drill bits inside. It can be unscrewed. Archimedean Drills were invented in mid 19th century as listed in 1859 by the US Patent office for the invention of ‘Spiral Drill’ and in the English catalog of Marples from 1864.
