Brass Pusher Candlesticks c1790. A pair of matching pusher candlesticks. The slide ejector was invented in the early eighteenth century. It enabled the length of the candle to be adjusted, and made it easier to remove the remains of the candle from the candlestick thus allowing the owners to save the tallow or wax. Overall height of candlesticks is 17.5 cm (6.9 inches).
