This is a beautifully handmade parquet saw, probably French. The saw is made of fruitwood and the toggle is turned bone. The cord (it may be raffia), for adding tension is connected to the saw, on one end, to an S shaped handle and on the other to a meticulously carved hook on the pistol grip handle. The wood has a lovely patina and is very tactile. The saw itself is connected to the wood with small steel pins. In the middle of the rod is a carved decoration. The steel saw is 21 cm in length and has 10 tpi. Overall length of saw is 31 cm
