Early Ophthalmoscope made by Dr. Richard Liebreich c.1880. Dr. Liebreich’s famous device has a Reute’s concave perforated mirror and a metal Coccius lens clip. The box includes four of five different lenses to correct the examiner’s refraction during direct ophthalmoscopic examination. In addition there are two large convex lenses in horn handle frames, for an indirect examination. These lenses are held close to the person being examined, while the device is held close to the examiner’s eye. one is marked 13.0 and the other 20.0 The lid is marked in gold colored letters ‘Liebreich’s Ophthalmoscope’’. The device comes in its original velvet lined box. The catch is operable though faulty.
