A boxed Steel and brass German “Bergische” Coin balance scales and weights dated 1765. The balance was made by the famous German scale maker Johann Phillip Herbertz. The scale beam and arms are hand forged and beautifully done with small decorations. The brass pans hang from strings attached to the arms via swan necks.  There are 18 knobbed weights for 6 different type coins in 18 square cavities:  Sevrin, Carlin, Pistole, Ducat, SL D’or and Max D’or. The 19th cavity is a small lidded compartment for fractional weights.  On the hinged lid the year 1765 is engraved. The wood case’s size is 17 X 8.5 X 2.4 cm. On its inner lid is the maker’s label with the following text: Ihre Churfürstl.
